We are looking for a permanent vet to work weekends in a busy, first opinion hospital in Derby. This role is a unique opportunity to see a varied case load, with a mixture of shift patterns on a Saturday and Sunday (1:2).

The exact shift pattern can be discussed at interview but will look something like this:
Ward Vet 1 – 7am – 5pm
Ward Vet 2 – 9am – 7pm
Float Vet (combo of wards/cons dependent on need of day)- 8.30am – 6.30pm
Cons Vet – 8am – 6pm

You will cover OOH for surrounding practices so have a steady case load. Consults at weekends will primarily be for sick animals only and emergencies, with minimal routine work. Wards at weekends will be looking after the existing inpatients and undertaking procedures/emergency surgery as required e.g., foreign body removal, GDV, C- Section, dressing changes. You will be supported by the client care team and weekend nursing teams, with support from the referral team if you need to refer over the weekend.

This hospital is well equipped with a CT scanner, MRI, Advanced Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Digital X-ray, Dental radiography, and multiple surgical suites, as well as an onsite hydrotherapy & rehabilitation centre and benefits from a multi-disciplinary specialist led referral service.
