We are looking for a nighttime veterinary surgeon to join our client’s team in South East London.

  • Must love cats
  • Part time schedule
  • Salary £58,000 to £65,000

About The Role

Our client is looking for a Night Veterinary surgeon with at least 2 years post-qualification with experience in ECC and a keen interest in in feline medicine. The position is medicine and in-patient management heavy but as the position is ‘sole-charge’, your surgery skills should allow you to comfortably perform non-routine emergency procedures, such as C-sections, exploratory GI surgery, etc.

You would expected to be comfortable with AFAST/TFAST/VPOCUS and if you knew your way around a cat’s abdomen, this would be great, but this part isn’t essential, and training can be provided. If you are studying towards a certificate or post-graduate qualification, the Clinic’s caseload will enhance any study or certification theory with practical exposure.

Work/life balance is ever more important in this changing world and so our client is happy to offer 7 days on 14 days off, each day shift is 13 hrs and each weekend/bank holiday shift is 14hrs.

A love of felines is essential and they want colleagues to join them who are passionate about what you do and will treat their patients, team members and owners with the same care and attention that you yourself would like to be treated.

About The Practice

They have a wide range of equipment available to you at all times including:

  • Flexible and rigid endoscopes/otoscopes
  • Mini-laparoscopy kit
  • Digital X-ray/Dental x-ray
  • Ultrasound with multi-frequency curvilinear, linear and phased array probes for abdominal and thoracic/cardiac imaging.
  • Syringe drivers/pumps
  • Oxygen tents/Bair huggers
  • In-house Idexx Vet Station including coags

Our client’s clinic is very definitely independent, purpose-built, and Gold Standard. They celebrated their 5th birthday in May 2022 and have nearly 4000 registered patients which brings an interesting and varied caseload, being a mixture of fun first opinion work, a significant number of interesting and challenging second opinions and increasing referral caseload. They have the only feline-specific ophthalmology service in the UK and have made a successful transition to providing 24/7 emergency and inpatient care to close the circle on high-level care we give our patients during the day.
