Locum vet wanted for regular shifts at this super charity practice near Portsmouth working 9-5pm. They have a state of the art on site veterinary clinic (not open to the general public and only to service the animals in their care).  This has with a dental x-ray, normal x-ray, ultrasound machine, dental table, theatre, knocking out room and recovery room.

The vets wouldn’t see any member of public clients as all of the animals belong to the Branch.  We have a number of very experienced staff who all have a wealth of knowledge to assist any vet with animals such as wildlife, small animals, dogs and cats. They have a behaviourist on site to help assist vets and behavioural cases that they might see. Their vet nurse who is on site Monday- Friday has been with them for a number of years and is very experienced with shelter medicine and also can help a vet with any queries they might have regarding shelters.

The vet would be required to perform routine operations such as neutering, teeth checking for rabbits, general health checks on all domestic animals and some small wildlife e.g. hedgehogs, birds (pigeons, gulls, garden birds and some waterfowl) dentals for cats and dogs, x-rays and routine vaccinations, flea and worming treatments.

This is a very busy site with a lovely suite to work in. You will be covering all routine GP work as and where required but will not have to deal with the public at all. Perfect for those who want to shy away from stressed clients. 

This is an unusual role and won’t be around for long!
