Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join and lead our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing clinical operations, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the highest standards of veterinary care. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact within our practice and to work in a well-equipped facility with a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the clinical operations of the practice
  • Perform surgeries, including routine and complex procedures
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and diagnose medical conditions
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for a variety of medical and surgical cases
  • Provide dental care and extractions
  • Administer vaccinations and preventative care
  • Mentor and support junior veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and other staff
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary standards and regulations
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
  • Participate in the clinic rota, working four days a week with weekends on a 1 in 6 basis
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Veterinary degree (DVM, VMD, BVSc, or equivalent)
  • Current license to practice veterinary medicine in the UK
  • Extensive experience in small animal practice
  • Strong surgical and diagnostic skills
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Additional certifications or specializations
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Proficiency with veterinary software systems
