We have an exciting opportunity for an Equine Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a purpose-built hospital. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and development in various areas of equine medicine and nursing.
In your role as an Equine RVN, you will collaborate with a team of specialists to deliver top-tier nursing care to equine patients. Your daily responsibilities will include preparing patients for surgeries and dental procedures, administering medications to inpatients, conducting field visits for X-rays and other procedures, assisting in patient evaluations and care, managing laboratory tasks, and maintaining cleanliness and stock levels in the practice. Collaborative teamwork will be pivotal to ensuring seamless workflow and exceptional standards of patient care.
This hospital is a premier 24-hour emergency and specialty facility dedicated to delivering outstanding veterinary services to our clientele. Situated in Lichfield, northeast of Birmingham, they proudly serve as an affiliated teaching practice for Nottingham University. The state-of-the-art hospital boasts a purpose-built infrastructure featuring four operating theatres, including two standing theatres with a dedicated dental facility, and two full theatres, one of which is specifically designated for colic cases. Equipped with four digital radiography systems, ultrasound machines, and a standing MRI, their facilities ensure comprehensive diagnostic capabilities. With stabling available for up to 30 horses, we cater to a diverse equine population, spanning from general riding and companion horses/ponies to elite sport horses and racehorse training establishments. Conveniently located near major transportation hubs, including the motorway network, mainline railway stations, and Birmingham International Airport, access to the clinic is seamless.
About the role:
This distinguished team comprises of 3 RVNs, 1 TVN, 3 Equine VCAs, along with ECVS boarded, medicine, sports medicine, dentistry, DI specialists and dedicated residents. Supporting the clinical staff are adept reception and accounts personnel and dedicated yard staff.
We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual, embracing the collaborative spirit of this team. You should aspire to broaden the scope of Equine RVN responsibilities, including ambulatory services, diagnostics, critical and emergency care, and other schedule 3 tasks. Candidates must hold the title of Equine RVN, be a clinical coach, or aspire to become one.
