An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly team in Stamford, Lincolnshire! We are looking for a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse however we would consider an exceptional 2nd Year student.

You would cover shifts in Theatre (with 2 operating vets most days) cardiac referrals-assisting with scans, X-rays, blood pressure measurements, ECG and blood testing, consultations diabetes, cushing’s and mobility to name a few, In-patient Care and a Float shift to assist where needed.
This practice encourages their nurses to become advocates in any area they wish to improve, promote or encourage others. Currently they have advocates in Cat friendly protocols, Dog friendly protocols, Nutrition, Nurse clinics, Clinical Auditing & Staff Wellbeing.

About the role:

  • Up to £31,000 per year plus £1,000 relocation assistance
  • 3-4 days per week covering 30-40 hours with shifts varying between 8:00am-6:300 pm Monday-Friday
  • Weekends are 1:7 working Saturday morning only. Out of hours is currently 1 night per week and 1 weekend in 7 (Friday night, Saturday from 12:30pm-8:00am Monday)

This is a Small Animal first opinion surgery offering Cardiac referrals to the surrounding area. They have separate cat and dog waiting area, 5 consult rooms, separate kennels, cattery, good sized prep room with 2 theatres, x-ray room, isolation and a well-equipped lab. They have also just invested in a brand-new ultrasound machine, have digital x-ray facilities, endoscopy, and multiparameter monitoring. With plans to expand the building in the near future to further improve the facilities and to grow as a practice.

This role is conveniently positioned near the A1 just North of Stamford, providing the best of both worlds with beautiful countryside on our doorstep, but also easy access to nearby Cities of Peterborough, Cambridge, Leicester, Nottingham and Lincoln, and London is just an hour away on the train. Local attractions nearby include Rutland Water Reservoir for walking, biking, water sports or just having a picnic and Burghley House for Horse trials, concerts, game fairs and much more.

The team consists of 7 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Student Nurse and an excellent Support team. One of their Vets is a cardiology advanced practitioner, two others are internal medicine certificate holders and one is working towards their imaging certificate.

This practice keenly support local charities, with a unique ‘pop up shop’ in the car park for a local charity ‘Mutts Nutts’ and fundraising for their local branch of Cats Protection. They also take part in a local dog show each year on Stamford Meadows and some team members take part in ‘wolf runs’ raising money for the British Heart foundation and MS Society UK.
