The Practice

This independent but large, two-branch practice has successfully built a great reputation in the area as a reliable and friendly practice.

With 14 vets, 12 RVNS, 5 SVNS, 5 auxiliary nurses, and 3 support team members, this role is an opportunity to drive this successful practice forward in this dynamic period of growth.

Their large, purpose-built clinic has state-of-the-art, hospital standard facilities, including dental x-ray, laparoscopy, ultrasound, and full IDEXX laboratory, including blood gases and coags.

Role Accountabilities

  • Management/leadership experience desired, not essential
  • Ideally individual with management experience or someone looking to develop management skills
  • 50/50 clinical and non-clinical work
  • Hands-on role
  • Help guide the practice during a period of growth
  • Freedom and autonomy
  • Working alongside the Clinical Director to oversee the clinics and drive change and improvement

The practice is searching for a Veterinary Director with leadership experience, or someone who is looking to move into leading a team within a growing and dynamic business.

This is an opportunity to lead a clinical team; the business would ideally like a Director with a deep interest in the industry, with a passion for delivering clinic healthcare excellence to ensure that your clients and their pets receive the very highest standard care.

As an integral part of the clinical team, you will have the freedom to influence change and develop improved processes and ways of working. You will have the autonomy to make decisions in an independent practice, without needing to break through layers of red tape.

You will be responsible for the team’s day-to-day management, including rotas and encouraging and supporting professional development.

While you’ll primarily be based in Swindon, you’ll need to be able to travel to Reading regularly to collaborate with the team.

This is a full-time role with a share of the Saturday shifts, although this will often be in a support role, being available to offer support and advice to our less experienced vets when needed. Out-of-hours are currently outsourced, so there are no Sundays and limited bank holiday working.
