Head Veterinary Surgeon – Haverfordwest

• No Sundays
• Salary up to £75,000 depending on experience, pro rata

Working 37.5 hours per week. Our client covers their own out-of-hours, with a rota of 1:6 or 7 weekends and one night per week. The normal working day runs from 8.30am till 5pm with an hour lunchbreak.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high standards of care and service are provided to patients and clients, you will oversee the development and growth of the Clinical team and ensuring that they are helping the practice achieve its productivity targets. You will ensure all policies and SOPs are up to date and are followed in practice, making certain that all clinical concerns are dealt with.

About The Practice

Our client has a rural practice that prides itself on a first-class small animal service, practising excellent medicine with great clients. They are kitted out with digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy and on-site IDEXX laboratory equipment allowing us to run most blood tests in-house. They do a lot of our surgeries including orthopaedics, TECAs, and wound reconstruction. Also, they have an aquatic treadmill in their Fishguard branch surgery and a dedicated hydrotherapy/physiotherapy team.

The normal working day runs from 8.30am till 5pm with an hour lunchbreak. They take pride in being able to provide their own out of hours emergency service based in the Haverfordwest practice for registered clients – the duty vet stays on for the evening surgery till 7pm and then they use a pager system with an emergency call operator so that vets can be on call from home. Time off in lieu of weekend work is provided and our full-time vets have an afternoon off each week in lieu of working a night on call.
