Permanent Night Vet Needed in Kent (SN/15679)

Our client is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to cover nights at their accredited veterinary hospital. You will be working alongside experienced and qualified night nurses, and VCAs, to provide the very best in clinical care and customer service. You will be part of a team of three night vets providing care for practices in South East London and North West Kent.

Our client is a supportive and collaborative environment, where team play is vital, so are looking for a vet with strong communication skills, a high sense of organisation and time management, a desire to deliver clinical excellence and genuine compassion for their patients and clients.

You will work 7 x 12 hour nights, before having 14 days off. Your shifts will be 8.30pm to 8.30am. You will be supported by a second-on-call vet who can come in to practice if needed, or provide telephone support.

The team is close knit but inclusive and there is a genuine sense of support and collaboration. The night team is very much part of the family and handovers, shift swaps and general case discussion all serve to support this inclusive relationship between our day and our night staff. During your night shift you will be running the show. Your clinical judgement will be called upon to manage both in-patients and emergencies and you will have access to the fullest range of diagnostic equipment to help you. Their set up allows them to have separate cat, dog and exotic wards as well as separate operating theatres and these will be all set up and ready for your arrival at 8pm.

Ideally you will have experience of working a night time pattern or be very confident that you can stay healthy and well whilst working nights. You will have managed emergency situations and be comfortable leading a small team. Communication style will be assertive and clear, but you will have a strong sense of empathy and compassion - both for clients and for hard working colleagues. You will have the ability to perform surgery, without the need for the second-on-call vet to attend, but also be medically confident.

You will be covering all first opinion duties where required and have experience in all basic surgery and good consulting skills. The practice is offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, a funded CPD package as well as 4 weeks holiday plus bank holidays. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 years UK experience.
