We are looking for a locum veterinary surgeon to join our client’s team in Douglas, Isle of Man.
Our client is looking for a Locum veterinary surgeon to join their Veterinary Practice, Douglas Isle of Man from 10/07/2023 to 26/07/2023. They can offer accommodation and travel to and from the Island (+/- a car). A car can be provided if required.
They are looking for a locum able to do large animal, small animal and equine, but the ability to do any of these specialties would be fine.
A day at the Practice
A typical day on consults would include a range of 2-hour blocks for routines, non-routines, and emergencies (on a very well managed diary). 15 minutes for standard consults or phone calls. Each vet also has ‘operation days’. These ‘Operation days’ allow the vets to work more in their areas of interest: surgery, ultrasound, dentistry and finishes with an evening surgery.
The working week is flexible, but the standard is 4 days Monday-Friday (8:30am-6:30pm) plus on call duties.
OOH is supported by RVNS. All inpatient checks are taken care of by their highly trained nurses. There is a vet WhatsApp group for support. The OOH phone has a message advising clients that is the service is for life threatening emergencies only and explains the cost for this service prior to being transferred to the duty vet.
Our client’s practice is a 100% small animal, Gold ISFM accredited, Silver RWAF, GP PSS, nurse training practice, with 2 well-equipped sites (11miles apart). They have an established, experienced team of 5 vets, ranging from 4-14years, with special areas of interest in surgery, ophthalmology, ultrasound, dentistry, and medicine, plus a visiting cardiologist. They believe in treating their nurses as the registered professionals that they are and our 7 RVNs and 3 ANAs offer great support to our team.
