Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality care to our animal patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, and support staff to deliver outstanding veterinary care.
  • Surgical Procedures: Perform a wide range of surgical procedures, from routine spaying and neutering to more complex surgeries.
  • Medical Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and treat medical conditions in a variety of animal species, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with pet owners to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and post-operative care, ensuring they are well-informed and comfortable with the care their pets receive.
  • Practice Management: Assist with the management of the clinic, including scheduling, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with veterinary regulations and standards.
  • Continued Education: Stay current with developments in veterinary medicine and surgery by participating in continuing education opportunities and professional development.
  • Emergency Care: Provide emergency care during clinic hours and be part of an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.


  • Educational Requirements: Degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the UK.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in veterinary practice, with a strong background in surgery and clinical practice.
  • Skills:

    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to veterinary care.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes, and perform physical tasks such as lifting and carrying equipment.
